    9 JANUARY 2010, 10:00 A.M.


    Meeting called to order by DCDR Jim Liverett, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

     

    INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS:

    CAPT Edwin Stanton, USCG Sector New Orleans

    CWO David Mulford- CO Station New Orleans

    DCAPT-C David Cooley-District Captain-Central

    BMI Justin Feussner- AUX LO, Station New Orleans-POMS

    Ned Peak- Aux Sector Coordinator

     

    Awards and Commendations were presented to several flotilla members.

     

    Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes of the previous meeting by Walter Ybos.Motion carried.

     

    Finance and Budget report: Motion to approve finance report and budget by Dave Buras. Motion carried.

     

    Division 4 is the largest in the district with 342 members.

     

    NEW BUSINESS:

    Emphasis in 2010 will be on recruiting and retention.

     

    DCDR Jim Liverett asked officers for any additions to the Flotilla Reports, which were e-mailed

     before the meeting. No additions received. Flotilla 45 submitted a late report.

     

    Awards Committee Chairman; Edie Wellemeyer

    FC’S are requested to recognize their members for outstanding performance. Any member can

    initiate an award. All award requests shall be directed to VDCDR, and then to the DCDR for

    forwarding through proper channels. Capt. Stanton would like to approve more awards.A

    request to appoint a Diversity person from each flotilla was requested. Please send your POC

    to VDCDR.

     

    Standing Rules: Dave Buras

    Discussed changes to the Division Standing Rules

    The Anchor Award criteria were rewritten. Instead of points, a 10% formula will be used in

    each category. Information will come from the Unit Summary Report from the previous year

    and the current year. Rules will be on the website.

    Motion was made to approve changes to the Standing Rules by Tucker Jones. Motion carried.

    Buras will review each flotilla’s Standing Rules as received.

     

    NSBW: Joe Stephens

    Boat Show at the Superdome is a division event - March 4th -7th. Need assistance to work the

    show.

    LA Sportsmans Show- Gonzales, March 12, 13, and 14th.

    FC’s are reminded to submit reports on NSBW events to Joe after the events this year. Pictures

    sent to the Navigator require proper uniform and hat.

     

    RAMP SAFETY PROJECT:

    It is suggested to combine the following 5 projects;

    Fishing line recovery,

    Citizens Action Network,

    Proper Flotation Equipment

    Float Plan

    News, etc.

    A discussion was held about installing a 4 by 4 ft. weather proof bulletin board at the major boat

    ramps. Each flotilla would maintain the bulletin board with updated information at a designated

    ramp. Flotilla’s can accept money to be used for projects, the Division cannot accept money. A

    request from Jim Liverett for a person to lead this project resulted in Edie Wellemeyer and Kris

    Diel to be appointed.

     

    TRAINING: Thom Brennan presented a slide show about Effective E-Mail. Very good training

    information was presented.

     

    VDCDR Edie Wellemeyer asked officers for any additions to the Flotilla Reports and SO Reports, which were e-mailed before the meeting.

     

    SO-CM:: Bill Pritchard explained some features about the new website.

    It was suggested that each month one flotilla is highlighted in a newsletter.

     

    SO-IS officers will use the new 99 hours reported on form 7029.

     

    Question: Ralph McLaury asked for someone to check on the modem that was purchased with

    Division money last year. He asked where it is and does it still work for the Division? SO-CM

    will check into its status.

     

    DCAPT-C David Cooley announced that the Commodore will match 50/50 for money spent on

    advertising by Public affairs.

     

    Next meeting and fellowship: March 13th at Fontainebleau State Park
